So Close! - Narrow loses to DLSW DLIT in Premier League T20 Matches
DLSWCC's Premier League Team lost close fought matches to HKCC and KCC in the premier league and won their game against Independents team to come 4th out of 5 teams in the Premier League T20 Competition.
This may be considered one of the disappointing seasons for Diasqua Little Sai Wan Cricket Club, however with a very young side taking the field due to some key players moving to other clubs in the season, the fight put out by the team bodes well for the future.
In the match against HKCC which was played at HKCC on 27th January 2019, HKCC won the toss and decided to bat first. Nizakat Khan's 83 runs opening the innings lead the HKCC side to put up a solid total of 187/7 in 20 overs. The key wicket taker was experience Moner Dar with 3 wickets for 17 runs in his three overs.
DLSW's batting innings got of to a disappointing start with the score of 39/3 in the 6th over. However Haroon Arshad and Moner Dar put on a 56 run partnership to bring the score to 95/4 when Moner was caught at the boundary with his score on 48 runs. He would be disappointing to miss out on his 50. Haroon carried on with wickets falling at the other end and in the 17th over Haroon was dismissed for 53 runs with DLSW Score on 150 for 6. 37 runs were needed from just over 3 overs and some big sixes of Ibraheem (31) and Ghanzanfar (15) got DLSW close and they lost by 4 runs. DLSW reached 183/7 in 20 overs.
A week later DLSW DLIT faced Independents at Mission Road on 3rd February 2019. DLSWCC won the toss and decided to make the Independents bat. The Spinners Eshan Khan (4/16) and Ghanzanfar Mohammed (3/9) took 7 wicktets to have the Independent side all out for 93 runs.
The Chase by DLSW was as comfortable as they would have liked it struggling at 19/4 DLSWCC looked in trouble until the steady innings from Ibraheem with 50 runs of 49 balls took DLSW past the target with 3 wickets in Hand. DLSW got their first win for the T20 League this season.
The final game of the season was against KCC at Kowloon Cricket Club on 17th Feb 2019. KCC won the toss and decided to bat first. However Ghazanfar Mohammed's leg spin bowled an amazing spell of 3 overs taking 6 wickets for 7 runs, having the KCC side all out for 97 run on a slowish track.
The DLSW innings however also failed to come to grip with their batting and struggled to 82/9 in their 20 overs losing the game by 15 runs. Hiren Patel top scored with 23 runs.
This ends the Premier League for the 2018-2019 season., it was too short of a season for teams to get any momentum and DLSW hopes to play more T20 cricket and One Day cricket in the Premier League in the next season
