DLSW Kinghts makes good progress in DIV 2 and retains Nizami Kwong-Wu Trophy.


We are back! The DLSW Editorial Team is now back with reports from DLSWCC Matches. It has been a difficult season for cricket fans with major gaps in schedules making it tough to follow games. DLSWCC will be publishing a report on each DLSWCC Team every working day and update on their matches and league status.

Today we look at DLSW Knights. The last match played by DLSW Knighs was back in December 2016, after which the Knights have had a 3 and half months break. With 4 wins in 4 games in the first half of the season it was time to see how the second half processes.

The first game in the second half of the season was against USRC Millennium on 4th April 2017 at PKVR Park. USRC won the toss and posed 173 runs all out batting first.

The Knights brought a close game against USRC falling 16 runs short. Eshan Ayaz was the mainstay of the Knights innings scoring 78 runs.

A week later the Knights were at HKCC on 9th April facing the leading team in Div 2 of the Elite League, HKCC Optimists. The Optimists put the Knights into bat and got the DLSW Development side all out for 155 runs. Moner Ahmed was the top scorer with 33 runs. Courtney Kurger's 46 runs gave the Optimist a comfortable 5 wicket victory.

On 16th May the Knights returned to their winning ways by defeating the Sportsroad Dragons by 9 wickets and retaining the Nizami Kwong Wu Trophy for the 2nd year.

The Dragon won the toss and decided to bat and did well to get their score to 163 in 43 overs. Their batsman looked good especially Siegfried Wai with 46 runs. The Knights reply was better,both of the opening batsman scored 50s. Harpreet Singh scored 52 runs before being stumped while Haseeb Muhammad was not out on 78 runs taking the team to victory in the 29th over.

The Knights will look to carry on this momentam in the next few matches. DLSW Knights have 3 games left in their season and all of the games will be played with the time frame of 7 days. Winning all three games will give Knights the chance to finish in the top 2. Here are the remaining matches

1st May - Vs HKCC Optimists at HKCC

3rd May - Vs SLSCC at Mission Road

7th May - Vs Vagabonds CC at PKVR Park
