JKN win a close one while Spartans lose a close one plus other weekend results.


JKN

Team JKN started their season by “hosting” Hong Kong Cricket Club Scorpions at Hong Kong Cricket Club on 16th October 2016.

Captain Barbar Hayet won his first toss as captain for Sai Wan and decided to bat first. Opener Amandeep Singh was the first to fall run out with the score on 30 runs. Barbar Hayat could not add much and was out early caught behind off bowler Gareth Harte. Opener Jamshed Khan kept one end ticking as wickets fell, finally he was bowled by Todd Ingram in the 16th over scoring 51 runs. DLSW Score was 90/4 then Eshan Khan came in and took the stable role from Jamshed. In 111 balls Ehsan scored 63 runs and was the last wicket to fall for JKN. JKN were all out for 196 runs in 49th over.

196 is not easy to defend and the bowling needed to be tight and everyone contributed. Five JKN bowlers took 2 wickets each and restrict HKCC team to 182 runs. JKN won by 14 runs.

Spartans

The DLSW Spartans suffered another close defeat, this time against Kai Tak CC. Winning the toss first and batting at PKVR Reservoir, the Spartans once again lost early wickets and struggled at 27/3. 40 runs form Hiran Shekhadiya helped bring the Spartans score to 123 all out in the 33rd over.

Kai Tak CC also had a similar start losing 3 wickets for 26 runs. Mukesh Dholakiya continuing to pick up bags of wickets in each game this time taking 3 wickets for 15 runs in his 7 overs. Anil Shah supported by picking up 2 for 32 runs. The difference was the batting of Jeffrey Maw of Kai Tak, holding his bat throughout the innings scoring 63 runs not out and seeing the Kai Tak team past the target with 4 wickets to spare. The Spartans did bring the match till the 34th over and put up a good fight with the ball.

Next week Spartans play their 5th game of the season at Mission Road, this time on a Sunday on 23rd October 2016 against Subcont CC

U17 League

The U17 Tigers didn’t do much wrong on 16th October at St Stephen’s colleage. Winning the toss and Batting first to pile on 271 for 9 in 35 overs against UCC Gladiators. All the top order batsman got a start and contributed to the batting with Ismail top scoring with 54 runs and Jahangir getting 40 runs.

The bowling was even more brutal getting the UCC side all out for only 53 runs in 12.3 overs. Massive 213 run victory. The pick of the bowler was Munir Khan with 4 wickets for 14 runs in only 9 balls

U13 League

The DLSW Lions won their match against Lantau Cricket Club played on . The LCC Team won the toss and decided to field first. Jagraj Singh scored 86 runs opening the batting off 84 balls including 4 sixes in his innings. He was out stumped going for another big one. Hassan Ali provided good support with 34 runs and the Lions scored 195/4 in their allotted overs.

The Lantau CC side were all out for 80 runs. Mohammed

Kaif taking 3 wickets for only 5 runs in his 5 overs and skipper Faizan Khan also bagging 3 wickets for 11 runs in his 5 overs. The Lions won the game by a massive 115 runs. In the other U13 game. the DLSW U13 Littles forfeited their game to KCC Buccanneers.

U11 League

Two games featuring DLSW U11 teams were scheduled to take place on 15th October 2016 at PKVR Reservoir. DLSW Cheetahs featured in a thrilling draw against KCC Wasps. Both teams ended their innings with 177 runs. The DLSW Kangaroos had to forfeit their game to DLSW Littles.

This Weekend

DLSW X-Cricketers have a game after a while against ESF Lions, at PTS. Captain Vishal Mahtani is eager to get his final few games of the 2015-2016 over in the delayed Challenge League. Only 6 games for DLSWCC this weekend brings a relatively quiet weekend for the club. Hope the typhoon stays away

At 1pm at KGV - U13 League - DLSW Lions vs KCC Buccaneers

At 1pm at St Stephen's - U17 league - DLSW Cheetahs vs USRC Premiers
