DLSW Tigers declared Champions of the U17 Premier League

The U17 DLSW Tigers won the prestigious Premier League final against Pakistan Association on 9th of January at Mission Road.

The toss was won by Pakistan Association’s U17 Side and they decided to bat first as they had in their previous game against DLSW Tigers (More details on that game below).

Learning from their league match game defeat DLSW Tigers put on a more disciplined display on the field, and managed to restrict Pakistan Association to a total of 180/7 in 35 overs, notwithstanding a brilliant 109 runs not out from PACC Batsman Hameed. Karandeep led the bowling attack by taking 4 wickets and giving miserly 14 runs in his full quote of 7 overs.

The batting was cautous by the DLSW batsman and they made sure the played good cricket to reach the target. Khizer impressed with 46 runs while the dependable Haroon scored 27 runs and M Ali helped the Tigers cross the finish line with a score of 31 not out.

The DLSW Tigers beat Pakistan Assoaction by 5 wickets and became the HKCA U17 Premier League Champions.

U17 Elite Division Final

The DLSW Lions reached the finals of the Elite Division and they played LMC. Having previously beaten the LMC team by 7 Wickets in the round robin stage and also being undefeated in the league stages, the Lions were confident to claim the Elite Trophy. The match was played on 10th January 2016 at St Stephen’s College.

DLSW Lions won the toss and as expected decided to bat first, posting a competitive 217 runs in 32 overs. DLSW Lions could have gotten more runs if they had not lost as many wickets to playing lose shots. The LMC side planned their innings well and chased the score with 6 wickets in hand and chased in the 27th Over.

The DLSW Lions are the Runners up of the HKCA U17 League Elite Division.

U17 League Games Round Up

The DLSW Tigers first played Pakistan Association in their last league round match on 19th December 2015 at Mission Road. This turned out to be exciting match but more importantly was the first and only loss for DLSW Tigers this season. Pakistan Association batted first and posted an impressive 236 runs in 35 overs. Shahzeb H Muhammad was the pick of the bowlers for DLSW Tigers with 3 for 31 in his 5 overs. Haroon Arshad was once again the star of the DLSW Tigers batting putting up another 59 runs to his name, however this was not enough as crucial wickets, including 3 LBW decisions, led to DLSW Tigers being all out for 219 runs and losing the match by 17 runs.

DLSW Cheetahs played the final game of the season at HKCC against HKCC Nomads on 2nd January. They were hammered by 297 runs. The HKCC Nomads posted 378/4 in 35 overs and in reply the DLSW Cheetahs were 81 all out.

U13 League Round Up

DLSW Littles lost by 3 Wickets to Skywarriors at KGV on 10th January 2016. Batting first DLSW U13 Littles posted 109/5 in 30 overs. The Skywarriors chased the target in the 28th over with 3 wickets in hand.

At the same ground DLSW U13 Lions were all out for 45 runs and lost the game against HKCC Wanderers by 6 wickets.

The DLSW U13 Tigers played the KCC Crusaders at PKVR Reservoir on 10th January 2016 as well. Results of this game will be updated shortly

U11 Championships

9th January 2016 also saw the start of the U11 Championship League. DLSW Tigers and DLSW Cheetahs are competing in the Hardball Premier Division, while the DLSW Littles (Division 1), DLSW Lions (Division 2) and DLSW Kangaroos (Division 2) are competing in the Elite Division using a softer ball. 14 overs a side cricket is played in this round of the U11 League.

In the Premier Division, DLSW Cheetahs played HKCC Cobras at PKVR Reservoir. Results of this match will be updated shortly. DLSW Tigers took on Skywarriors who won the toss and decided to bat. Skywarriors scored an impressive 79/1 in their 14 overs. In reply DLSW Tigers managed 69/6 losing the match by 10 runs.

In the Elite Division, DLSW Littles played DB Smashers while DLSW Lions played HKCC Rebels at the same ground. Watch this space for Results.
