Shanzeen’s five wickets and Rain dominate weekend’s matches!


DLSW Wasps took on the HKCC Cavaliers on 1st October and were put into the bat at Po Kwong Village Road Reservoir Ground, after losing the toss. However this week the batsman couldn’t dominate as in previous weeks, the HKCC Bowlers kept taking regular wickets and the Wasps struggled to score runs in the 20 overs. The Wasps team scored 84 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allocated 20 overs, the Positive from the batting was that they managed to do is bat out the 20 overs and give the bowlers a chance. Shanzeen opened the bowling for Wasps and immediately made and impact by taking the wickets of the top order. Shanzeen bowled 4 overs for 35 runs and took 5 wickets. The Cavaliers batsman struggled against the Wasps bowlers and were all out for 66 runs. The DLSW Wasps won the game by 18 runs, a third win in a row.

Unfortunately Rain spoiled the winning streak on 4th October and DLSW Wasps’ game against CCC was washed out. The points were shared between both teams.

DLSW Prism game against the HK U19s was also washed out on Sunday 4th October. Along with all other games in the round.

DLSW Sarjan played their 2nd game on 1st October at HKCC against HKCC Nomads. DLSW Sarjan won the toss and invited Nomads to bat first. Moeed Haider picked up 2 wickets for 29 runs in his 6 overs, while Karandeep Singh took 2 wickets for 15 runs in 4.4 overs. The pick of the bowlers was Saqib Mahmood taking 3 for 23 in his 5 overs as the 6th Bowler in action. The Nomads were all out for 152 in the 32nd over. In reply the Sarjan team stuggled to put up a score and the top run scorer was Hudugur Gururaj with 19 runs. The Sarjan team folded for 84 runs in the 24th over.

DLSW Spartans made their debut on Saturday 3rd October in the Saturday Championships Division 2, their match was against Lamma Cricket Club. Captain for the day, Suresh (Zulu) Gaveria lost the toss and were put into Bat first on a cloudy and wet afternoon. The forecase was for rain and it was important to get runs on the board early when batting first. The Spartans lost wickets going for runs and the rain came in the 25th Over with the score on 111 for 9 wickets. Azhar Hussain was top scorer with 38 runs followed by Hiren Shekidiya with 30 runs. The match was reducted to 25 overs a side and Lamma was give a revised target. The Rain came again at 14 overs of Lamma's Batting innings, Lamma were 90 for 1 wicket and won the match with a higer run rate.

In the HKCA U11 League, thre DLSW teams were in action. DLSW Kangaroos scored 180/3 in 16 overargs chasing the target of 219 made by KCC Hornets and lost by 39 runs. DLSW Lions lost to USRC Avengers scoring 101 to the Avenger's 272. The DLSW Cheetas had a similar fate scoring 134 to KCC Wasps' 206.

Next weekend: DLSW Prism take on Kowloon Cricket Club at KCC. This is the top of the table clash between two undefeated teams. DLSW Spartan play SCC Lancers on 10th October at PKVR Park. In the U11 League DLSW Tigers take on Skywarriors while DLSW Cheetahs take on HKCC Sharks at PKVR Reservoir. In the U17 League on 10th October at Mission Road, DLSW Tigers play KCC while on 11th October 2015 DLSW Littles play HKCC Wanderers at St Stephen College. SIX Teams in Action!
