Diasqua Little Sai Wan Cricket Club Appoint former HK National Captain Tabarak Dar as Operations Man


The DIASQUA Little Sai Wan Cricket Club, Hong Kong’s leading independent Cricket Club, as part of its ongoing club restructuring today announced that it has signed former Hong Kong National Team Captain and long serving DLSWCC Club Member Tabarak Dar as its first professional administrative manager.

Mr. Tony Mehta, President of Diasqua Little Sai Wan Cricket Club, said this appointment is the club’s first step towards professionalizing the organization of various club activities and teams with the aim to cement its strong position in Hong Kong cricket and help it realize its dream of developing its own purpose built training facility.”

Tabarak Dar has a long association with Diasqua Little Sai Wan Cricket Club and was Captain of the Club for 12 years starting from 2001. Tabarak also had a long innings playing for the Hong Kong National Team and made his debut for Hong Kong in 1997. Tabarak was appointed Captain of Hong Kong in 2006 and he led his team in the 2008 Asia Cup with some distinction, opening the batting and impressing with his grace under pressure. Hong Kong was also crowned campions of the ACC Trophy in 2008 under Tabarak’s Captaincy. In his career playing for Hong Kong, Tabarak played 4 ODIs and 2 First Class Matches.

Tabarak was also employed for Hong Kong Cricket Association as a full time Development Officer for 12 years, and amongst his duties was the running of HKCA’s Junior Club Cricket Programs and Schools Cricket. Tabarak is also a qualified coach (Asian Cricket Club / Cricket Australia Level 3 Award), a qualified Coach Educator (ACC Advance Level) and a qualified Umpire (ACC Advance Level Umpire). His off field credits include being appointed Head Coach for the HK National Team at the ACC Trophy in Kuwait in 2010 and being invited to officiated as a Third Umpire in the Nepal vs Hong Kong T20 series and 3 day match held in Sri Lanka in August 2015

“Tabarak success off the field and his amazing leadership qualities on and off the field made this a relatively straight forward decision for the Club”, said Tony Turner, Patron in Chief of Diasqua Little Sai Wan Cricket Club, “Tabarak will be overseeing DLSWCC’s coaching responsibilities with schools and various centers and more effectively managing the Clubs membership and team playing programs. He will also manage our coaching staff which include a team of full time and part time coaches.”
