DLSWCC End up in Disappointing Fourth Place in Premier League but Babar Hayat’s Ton and DLSW Team ga

The remaining four games of the HK T20 Premier League were played with double headers against KCC at KCC on 28th January 2018 and double headers against HKCC at HKCC on 4th February 2018.

At KCC the home side made 175/6 in their allotted 20 overs. The entire top 7 got into double figures, with Scott McKechnie (53 off 43, 5 fours 2 sixes) and Gurjinder Singh (27* off 12, 1 four 3 sixes) the highlights. In response, DLSW Prism could only manage 152/8 – wicketkeeper Hiren Patel top scoring with 41* off 29 balls (3 fours 2 sixes). Off spinner Vishal Sharma proved penetrative with the new ball yet again, finishing with 3/21 from his 4 overs, while seamer Ali Mohammed finished with 2/24.

In the afternoon match at KCC won the toss and elected to bat first and put together another emphatic performance of their own. Waqas Barkat scored 88 off 55 (6 fours, 5 sixes) opening the batting and Scott McKechnie put in another fine performance with 45 off 29 (6 fours, 1 six), as KCC posted 190/4 in their 20 overs. DLSW were then bowled out for just 84 runs, Daniel Pascoe returning the second-best individual bowling figures of the season in just his second game, 3.4-0-19-6, sending DLSW crashing to a 106 runs loss, and sending KCC to the top of the table.

On 4th February, HKCC needed to win one game to win the Premier League Title ad DLSWCC was not going to make it easy. With the DLSWCC team at full strength this was now a different side. HKCC won the toss and put DLSWCC to bat in the morning match, and the DLSWCC Batsman dominated, Babar Hayat smashed 113 runs of 51 balls with an incredible 13 sixes led DLSWCC to a score of 241/1 in 20 overs. Janzeb Khan’s 60 (off 40 balls) and Shahid Wasif with 44 not out supported Baber’s innings.

Haroon Arshad picked up 4 wickets for 32 runs to restrict HKCC to 202 all out in the 19th over. DLSWCC won by 39 runs

The second game HKCC Won the toss again and decided to bat first and Hk National Player Nizakat Khan hid a century to take HKCC to 215/6 in 20 overs. Haroon Arshad took his tally of wickets to 7 for the day with 3 wickets for 25 runs. In DLSWCC’s innings Shahid Wasif top scored with 75 runs but the team fell short of the target by 12 runs. Giving HKCC the win and the Premier League Title.

These were two great games of T20 cricket and were a perfect lead up to the HK T20 Blitz which started 2 days later
