DLSW Sarjan Win Championship League and Gain Promotion back to Division 1
A recap of all of DLSW Sarjan's Matches in 2017 which shows their journey to becoming Champions of Division 2 of the Cricket Hong Kong's Championship League. DLSW Sarjan will compete in Division 1 in the following season.
Vs CHK Pioneers
On 8th January at Mission Road, CHK Pioneers put DLSW Sarjan to bat and gave the Sarjan team opportunity to put up the huge total of 284/9 in 35 overs. Haseeb Muhammad top scored with 93 runs. The Pioneers were all out for 37 runs with Moeed Haider taking 6 wickets for 10 runs in 4 overs. A huge 247 runs win.
Vs CCC Hung See
At PTS On 21st January 2017, Sarjan won the toss this time and decided to bat again and put on an even bigger score of 304/8 in 35 overs. Haroon M Arshad hit 112 runs and Haseeb Muhammed once again got another 56 runs. The Hung See team were 138/8 at the end of their overs. Sarjan won the game by 166 runs.
Vs HKUCC
Sarjan played the HKUCC side at PKVR Park on 4th February 2017, this time there were asked to bat first. Haroon Arshad scored 80 runs to lead the DLSW Sarjan team to 179/8 in 35 overs. HKU were all out for 140 runs giving DLSW Sarjan a 39 runs victory.
Vs Lamma Cricket Club
After a longish break, Sarjan played Lamma CC at Mission Road on 25th March 2017. Lamma decided to bat first and were all out for 175 runs. Haroon Arshad once again showed form and scored 85 runs not out to get Sarjan to an 8 wicket victory in the 20th overs.
Vs Lamma Cricket Club – Playoff starts
A week after playing Lamma CC, Sarjan faced them again at PKVR Park for the 2nd round of the league playoffs. This time Lamma decided to ask Sarjan to bat first, and Sarjan’s top three all scored heavily. Haseeb Muhammad got 60 runs off 61 balls before being caught off Tom Wood’s bowling. Aftab Hussain carried the bat and was 122 not out at the end of the innings. His innings of 92 balls included 6 sixes. Mohammad Ibraheem also put up 54 runs giving DLSW Sarjan 254 / 2 in 35 overs. Lamma Cricket Club only managed 162/6 in 35 overs and DLSW Sarjan won their second game against them by 92 runs
Vs HKUCC
The second game of the playoffs was against HKUCC, and HKU decided to bat first. However the Sarjan bowling was disciplined and the fielding was tight, HKU were all out for 122 runs. Sarjan chased the score in the 22nd over with 7 wickets to spare.
Vs DLSW Spartans
The match against Spartans was abandoned due to bad weather
Vs SCC Lancers
The Final Game of the season was against SCC Lancers on 29th April 2017 at Mission Road. Lancers also decided to bat first and could only manage 116 against the Sarjan Bowling attack. Ghazanfar Mohammad picked up another 4 wickets. This time however Sarjan batting did lose a number of wickets but were able to get the target with 7 wickets down. Sarjan won the match by 3 wickets.
The undefeated run in 2017 by the DLSW Sarjan team with a number of wins with bonus points gave the team 52 points on the Points Table and winning the Division 2 Championship
