November Cricket Round Up - JKN Come Short against Wanderers, Knights overcome Vagabonds CC, Spartan


DLSW JKN

On 20th November 2016 at Hong Kong Cricket Club. DLSW JKN fell short against HKCC Wanderers in a Elite League Division 1 Game.

With the National Team in Kenya it was up to the Non National Players in the JKN Side to stand up in the Elite Competition, Haseeb Amjad captained the side and won the toss and decided to bowl first.

Haseeb claimed 4 wickets for his side for 53 runs in 10 overs but the Wanderers still managed to put up a good score of 284/8 thanks to contributions by Liam Ginnavan (60), Ryan Buckley (52) and Jonathan Worby (76).

The JKN innings started very well with a 124 run opening partnership between Jangzeb Khan and Amandeep Singh. Jangzeb Khan fell first with his score on 61 runs. Amandeeop Singh also scored 61 runs and he fell with the score at 165/2. The team then kept losing wickets and none of the other batsman made any major contributions. The JKN Team was all out for 216 in the 44th over. The match was lost by 68 runs.

DLSW Knights

On the same day at Mission Road, DLSW Knights took on the Vagabonds CC for a Elite Division 2 Match. Coach Moner Dar decides to play for the Knights team in the game. The Vagabonds won the toss and decided to bat first.

The Knights team strength has always been their bowling, Ghazanfar Mohammad was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets for only 30 runs in his 10 overs. Saqib Mahmood, Mohammed Osama and Nabeel Mohammed also picked up 2 wickets each. Vagabonds were restricted to 155 runs all out in the 45th over

The Knights chase was held by opener Gururaj Hudugur's innings. Gururaj made 69 runs of 83 balls including 12 boundaries and 1 sixer. Gururaj was dismessed with the score on 124/4. Mohammad Ibraheem supported Gururaj with 31 runs and Moner Dar made sure the target was chased being not out in the end with 30 runs. The Knights won the game with 3 wickets to spare. The coach will feel that too many wickets were lost and will ensure the batting will improve in the coming matches.

The Knights next play USRC on 11th December 2016 at Mission Road.

DLSW Spartans

The Spartans faced Pioneers CC at PKVR Park on 19th November 2016. The Pioneers won the toss and decided to bowl first. The Spartans couldnt have asked for a better present. After losing a couple of wickets, Hiren Patel got back to form with a splendid 134 runs of only 86 balls, including 22 boundaries. Haroon Arshad supported Hiren with 65 runs of 44 balls. Kishore Mangukiya also helped himself to 42 runs taking Spartans score to an incredible 330 for 6 in 35 overs.

The Spartans bowling didnt have to use more than 3 bowlers. Harikushna K Virani opened the bowling taking 5 wickets for 13 runs in 5.2 overs. Mukesh Dholakiya added to his tally of wickets with 4 wickets for 17 runs in his 7 overs. Anil Shah picked up the remaining wicket. Pioneers were all out for 50 runs in 14.2 over losing the match by 280 runs. A much needed win by the Spartans

Next weekend - DLSW Sarjan play Kai Tak CC at PKVR Park at 12:15pm
