Defending Champions, DLSW Prism hammered by KCC (and other results round up)
It was a forgettable weekend for DLSWCC. Most junior games were washed out while our Premier Men's and Women's team had disappointing losses
The must hyped match between DLSW and KCC turned out to be a major let down for supports of both clubs as it was a complete one-sided defeat for DLSW.
Ehsan Khan, the captain of DLSW Prism, won the toss and decided to Bat first. The wicket had a bit for the bowlers and Kowloon Cricket Club players knew the wicket well and knew where to bowl. Kowloon Cricket Club have sent a strong message to the rest of the competition with this victory. After having already dismantled Hong Kong Cricket Club and CHK Independents XI, KCC dismissed Little Saiwan for just 54, with Ashley Caddy (4-6) and Tanveer Ahmed (4-10) doing the bulk of the damage. There were some excellent catches mixed in with some poor batting from DLSW batsman which resulted in the low score. 54 runs is tough to defend.
KCC then knocked the runs off in less than 9 overs for the loss of two wickets, with Kinchit Shah smashing an unbeaten 35 off 17 balls to confirm the victory. Niaz Ali's first over showed some commitment to try to defend by taking two wickets, but to defend such a small total you need wickets almost every over.
DLSW will have a chance to come back as they have a 2nd game with KCC in hand. With key batsman Barbar Hayat back in the team along with the U19 players (who were away for a HKU19 tournament), DLSW team should come back strongly against HKCC this Sunday 9th October 2016
The Wasps had a late scheduled T20 game played against HKCC Cavaliers on 2nd October 2016 at PKVR Reservoir. DLSW Wasps managed to get a full team despite the short notice and won the toss and decided to bat first.
Shanzeen top scored opening the batting with 40 runs, after inform player Manpreet Kaur was our early for 3 runs. The HKCC Cavaliers bowled tight lines and only gave 3 wides and DLSW Wasps managed 86/6 in their twenty overs.
The Wasps bowling was missing the dicipline and gave away 32 extras. The HKCC Batsman managed to cross the winning score after losing 6 wickets. Mahreen Yousuf and Mariyam Bibi picked up 2 wickets each.
Next weekend is a break for the Womens as HK Hosts the ICC Women Qualifier Tournament. Shanzheen will be representing DLSW in the HK Women's squad.
The U17 Littles played a game on 2nd October 2016 at St Stephen’s college against the USRC and the Littles were out played. USRC batted first and posted a huge 294 runs. The Littles did manage to get them all out by taking 10 wickets. Pratik took 3 wickets for 57 runs. The Littles batting didn’t last and they were all out for 53 runs with Gaurav top scoring with 22 runs.
The 1st October game between DLSW Cheetahs and KCC Crusaders at PKVR Reservoir was called off due to wet outfield. Points were shared between both teams. On 2nd October at KGV, DLSW Tigers were due to play United Hawks, however the Tigers had to forfeit their game.
All the games were washed out last weekend. DLSW Cheetahs, DLSW Lions and DLSW Littles got one point each for each of their abandoned game.
DLSW Prism needs to win the match on 9th October to get their defense of the Premier League Title back in order. DLSW Spartans play HKUCC at PKVR Park on 8th October 2016 and the DLSW Sarjan Ninjas are back still finishing a fixture from the 2015-2016 season.
