In the Christmas and Boxing day 2-Day Premier League fixture, which doubles as the Quaid –I-Azam Trophy Match, DLSW Prism drew Pakistan Association as PACC’s managed to hold on the their innings at the end of play on Day 2.
DLSW won the toss and decided to bat first. They did not have the best start as their opening pair Anas Khan and Mohammad Hasseb were dismissed early on. Their replacements Waqas Khan (56) and Babar Hayat (58) provided some solid runs to help lift the team. Middle-order batsman and skipper Moner Ahmed scored 79 to become the highest scorer of the match. In the lower order, Shahid Wasif (55) and Niaz Ali (35) finished the innings and the first day with some extra push to bring the tally to 347 all out. For PACC, Tanwir Afzal led the bowlers with 3/82. Aizaz Khan, Manjinder Singh, Mohsan Khan took 2 wickets each.
It was PACC’s turn to bat on the second day. They did not have the best start of the innings neither, with opener Daniyal S Bukhari run out for a duck. The other opener Qasam Khan had a better innings with 48 runs before being caught out at 85/3. Tanwir Afzal (25), Ahsan Abbasi (15) and Aizaz Khan (0) lost their wickets in relatively quick successions. But Skhawat Ali (65*) and Mohammad Ishtiaq (37*) were able to build up some momentum. They brought the score up to 247/7 when the day ended. Niaz Ali bowled well for DLSW with 3/41, while Ehsan Khan had 2/50.
At Mission Road, Diasqua Little Sai Wan Prism 347 from 89.4 overs drew Pakistan Association 247/7 from 88 overs.
The Match was drawn between both Sides. The Quaid-I-Azam trophy was retained by the pervious holders, Pakistan Association who won the 2 Day match last season.
The Quaid –I –Azam is an annual event held between Pakistan Association and Diasqua Little Sai Wan Cricket Club and was first held in 2003. Best players from both clubs play to compete in the 2 Day Match which is held to commemorate the birth of the founder of Pakistan , Quaid-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.
