DLSW Cricket Returns to HKUST

Its been a number of years since a cricket team from Diasqua Little Sai Wan Cricket Club played at the HKUST Grounds and it was great to have a Challenge League Game between DLSW X-Cricketers and HKUST be scheduled there on Mar 6th 2016.

At HKUST, cricket is played on the football field using a Flex Mat Wicket, the boundaries included parts of the running tracks around the ground. The wicket plays well throughout the innings and the ground has a amazing seanic veiw with Mountains and the sea on one side and the brilliant HKUST campus on the other side.

This is the 3rd game of the DLSW X-Cricketers and it was a nail biting thriller of a match.

Vishal Mahtani, skipper of DLSW X-Cricketers, called correctly and decided to bowl first on the HKUST Flex Wicket. Opening the bowling with Left Hand Spinner Nitesh and left arm medium pacer Maqsood, they bowled well in pairs and gave little runs away in terms of extras. Both were rewarded with a wicket each against the opening batters of the HKUST team.

Tatagata Sarkar came in first change and bowled tight lines and good length making it difficult to score runs for the UST batsman. while on the other hand bowlers Naveen Parwani and Manpreet Singh picked up a few wickets amongst them.

DLSW Junior Cricket Navdeep Singh was called up to bowl and he picked up impressive 2 wickets for 12 runs.

HKUST's innings didn’t get going and were all out for 104. Surely not enough to defend.

What the DLSW X-Cricketers bowlers did well on this flex wicket, the HKUST being the home team did better. Making runs difficult to score for DLSW X-Cricketer. Vikas Kakar opened the batting and stayed in till the drinks break but one lose shot made all his hard work go waste. Nitesh Sancheti looked the comfortable batting and scored 19 runs before hitting a ball straight to the fielders hand. Need of the hour was to stay in the wicket.

Naveen Parwani batted with the tail and took the team to 99 runs and finally was bowled with 5 runs short of the Target.

It was an great game of cricket and the games was played in great spirit. DLSW X-Cricketers do look forward to coming back to HKUST for another game soon.
