Shahid Wasif And Anas Khan Go Ballistic 300 Run Partnership – DLSW JKN Match Reports

Welcome back to match reports from various DLSWCC Games. We have been missing in action during the holiday season and we are now back with weekly updates. We will be covering matches on a team by team basis and we start with reports from DLSW JKN
Vs KCC Templars
JKN played their first two games against Pakistan Association and DLSW Knights with a 1-1 win lose ratio. On December 20th DLSW JKN faced the challenge of KCC Templars in a HOME game for JKN side at Kowloon Cricket Club. JKN won the toss and decided to bat first.
The JKN Captain, Moner Dar, decided to let Nadeem Ahmed open the batting for DLSW JKN as a pinch hitter. Nadeem had success against KCC side in the premier league as a batsman and this was a gamble worth the risk as Nadeem was given license to smash the ball from the 1st over. Nadeem smashed 70 runs off 82 balls including 8 fours and 2 sixes. Barber Hayat was another contributor to the DLSW JKN innings with a score of 59 of 68 balls included 3 sixes and 4 boundaries. However apart from Moner’s 38 none of the batsman put on much and the JKN team was all out for 215 inside 45 overs.
KCC Templars’ Ryan Campbell and Harish Kathri scored 66 and 56 each to give Templars a 4 Wicket win over the DLSW JKN Side. Nadeem Ahmed had a good day with the ball as well to claim 3 wickets for 21 runs in his 10 overs
Match Summary: DLSW JKN 215 in 44.1 Overs (Nadeem Ahmed 70, Barber Hayat 59, Imran Arif 4-24) lost to KCC Templars 216/6 in 45 overs (Ryan Campbell 66, Harish Kathri 56, Nadeem Ahmed 3-21) by 4 Wickets

Vagabonds CC won the toss and decide to bat first. The DLSW JKN Bowling was too strong for the Vagabonds Side who were bundled out for 55 runs, Harmeet Singh taking 5 wickets for 14 runs in his 5 overs while Nadeem Ahmed picked up another 2 wickets for 12 runs. Ehsan Khan was unplayable for the Vagabonds with 3 wickets for 6 runs in his 5 overs.

Vs HKCC Scorpions
On 31st January 2016 At Hong Kong Cricket Club, a good all-round performance by HKCC Scorpions saw them score a bonus point victory over DLSWCC JKN.
The HKCC Scorpions’ skipper Matt Rafter chose to bat first after winning the toss but he lost his opener David Varley early. A 96-run stand between Charlie Bright (47) and Scott McKechnie (47) lifted the score to 2/99 at which stage James Redmayne joined the fray. Redmayne batted brilliantly for 109 runs as HKCC Scorpions eventually reached 7/270 from their 50 overs.
The DLSW JKN innings got off to a poor start, as they lost Hong Kong internationals Anas Khan and Waqas Khan with only 26 runs on the board. A fine 101-run partnership for the third wicket between Hiren Patel (60) and Ehsan Khan (87) got them to 3/127 but once their stand was broken, the innings folded dramatically and they were all out for 183. No less than five DLSWCC JKN batsmen recorded ducks. Raag Kapur was the bowler who did most damage with figures of 4/34 from his ten over spell.
Match Summary: HKCC Scorpions 7/270 from 50 overs beat DLSWCC JKN 183 from 44.1 overs by 87 runs

Miles Richardson scored 34 but the rest of the top order failed as Optimists slipped to 6/95 and then 8/117. Some dogged resistance from the tail-enders, nurtured along by their skipper David Jacquier who finished on 51 not out, got Optimists to 171 all out in the 50th over. Ehsan Khan was the pick of the bowlers for DLSWCC JKN with figures of 3/18 from his ten over spell.
Ehsan Khan then hit an unbeaten 50 as DLSWCC JKN knocked off the runs in just 29.2 overs. Waqas Khan scored 30 while Babar Hayat and Moner Ahmed also made valuable contributions. Miles Richardson’s 4/67 went in vain for HKCC Optimists.

Vs HKCC Wanderers
On 6th March at Mission Road, DLSW JKN won the toss and decided to bat first against HKCC Wanderers. The team was in trouble being 35/5 and then walked in Shahid Wasif. The two of them managed a 317 run not out partnership, Shahid coming in at no 7 smashed 189 runs not out, whilst Anas Khan scored 115 not out.
