DLSW Prism takes unbeaten record to Premier League Finals

DLSW Prism had a convincing win against Pakistan Association in the Premier League. DLSW Wasps also beat Pakistan Association’s Women’s Side with another 5 wicket haul for Shanzeen. DLSW Sarjan registered their first win of the season last weekend. Here are the match reports for last weekend’s matches

DLSWCC Prism v. PACC

It was an one-side result at Mission Road on 18th October 2015, where DLSWCC Prism thrashed PACC by seven wickets. PACC won the toss and elected to bat first but they found themselves in deep trouble after slumping to 5/35 after 15 overs. Left-arm speedster Niaz Ali did the early damage, trapping Qasim Khan (0) and Skhawat Ali (1) LBW while having Ahsan Abbasi caught by Anas Kahn for 7. Tanwir Afzal scored 8 but his innings was cut short with Anas Khan taking his second catch, this time off Waqas Khan. Aizaz Khan (20) and Mohammad Ehtesham (30) stemmed the carnage with a 44-run partnership for the sixth wicket but the remaining wickets fell quickly once their pairing was broken. Ehsan Khan mopped up the middle and lower order batsmen with a spell of 4/20 from six overs as Pakistan Association capitulated for 94.

The DLSWCC Prism reply began brightly with Anas Khan hitting four boundaries in his 17-ball stay at the crease that contributed 18 runs. Jangzeb Khan (29) and Waqas Khan (17) also made useful contributions before Babar Hayat saw DLSWCC Prism home in the 23rd over with an unbeaten 28.

At Mission Road: PACC 94 from 31.1 overs lost to DLSWCC Prism 3/95 from 22.1 overs by seven wickets.

The outcome of the two Premier League matches from last weekend decided the finals for the One-Day Premier League. DLSWCC Prism will face KCC KARP in the grand final to be played at Mission Road on 31st October 2015 while HKCC and PACC will play in the 3rd/4th place play-off match on 25th October 2015

DLSW Wasps vs PACC

Over at PKVR Reservoir, DLSWCC Wasps defeated PACC by nine wickets. PACC could only muster 23 all out in just 5.1 overs with Shanzeen Shahzad claiming 5/11. The DLSWCC women only needed four overs to knock off the runs.

At PKVR Reservoir: PACC 23 from 5.1 overs lost to DLSWCC Wasps 1/24 from 4 overs by nine wickets.

The women’s competition will now switch to the 35-over Women’s League with all teams playing each other once. The Women’s T20 Cup will resume in late February 2016 once all Women’s League matches are completed. DLSW Wasps are currently 2nd on the Twenty20 Points Table

DLSW Sarjan vs KCC Crusaders

At Kowloon Cricket Club on 17th October 2015, DLSWCC Sarjan beat KCC Crusaders by 29 runs. This was the first win for DLSW Sarjan in this season. DSLWCC Sarjan’s openers got them off to a flyer with a century opening partnership between Hudugur Gururaj (38) and Mohammed Ibraheem (48). Waqas Khan then chipped in with 43 as DLSWCC Sarjan reached 6/190 from their 35 overs. Chirag Kothari was the pick of the Crusaders’ bowlers, grabbing 4/41 from his spell. In reply, Aditya Kanthan scored 39 but his was the best in a faltering effort that saw Crusaders dismissed for 161. Sarfaraz Khan did most of the damage for DLSWCC Sarjan, claiming 4/29 in six overs.

At KCC: DLSWCC Sarjan 6/190 from 35 overs beat KCC Crusaders 161 from 32.4 overs by 29 runs

DLSW Gladiators vs MidLevels United

At KGV on Sunday October 18th 2015, as the Prism Team was taking on PACC, DLSW’s Challenge League team Gladiators was trying to overcome last year’s finalist Midlevels United. Midlevels won the toss and decided to bat first at the small KGV Ground. Scoring 208/9 in their 30 overs. Sanjay was not out on 56 and the pick of the Gladiator’s Bowlers was Amit with 16/4 in 6 overs. The Gladiators in reply were all out for 112 in 22 overs. The Higest score being 23 runs by Jigar

U17 League

At Mission Road on the morning of 17th October 2015, PACC won the toss against DLSW Cheetahs and decided to Bat first. PACC posted 202 in 31.3 overs. In reply although the Cheetahs managed to bat the full 35 overs for the fall of six wickets only. They only manged to score 148 runs and lost the game by 54 runs.

On the same day at St Stephen’s Collage. The DLSW Lions did better against HKCC Wanderers. The HKCC Side also won the toss and decided to bat, however the Lions bowling restricted the score to 129 all out in 34 overs. The Lions chased down the score in 16 overs with the loss of one wicket. DLSW Lions beat HKCC Wanderers by 9 wickets

U11 League

Four DLSW U11 teams were in action at PKVR Reservoir. DLSW Tigers beat USRC Jaguars by 51 runs, DLSW Lions lost to HKCC Dragons and in a derby game DLSW Littles beat DLSW Kangaroos by 50 runs.

Next Weekend

Both the Premier League team and the Women’s team have a break in the coming weekend. However there are still 7 other DLSW teams in action.

DLSW Sarjan will face the challenge of HKCC Witherers at Hong Kong Cricket Club on 24th October 2015 in the Saturday Division One

Championships, while DLSW Spartans will take on Pioneers CC at PKVR Park on the same say for a Saturday Division Two Championship match.

In the U17 League: DLSW Tigers take on USRC Premier at Mission Road in the morning of 24th October 2015.

The U13 League also starts on 25th October and DLSW U13 Lions will play USRC Elite at KGV on 25th October 2015.

In the U11 League: DLSW Tigers take on KCC Wasps, DLSW Lions take on USRC Mustangs and DLSW Littles take on KCC Hornets all matches will be played at PKVR Reservoir on 24th October 2015
