The Little Sai Wan Cricket Club, Hong Kong’s leading independent Cricket Club, today announced that it has signed a long term joint venture development agreement with a major Hong Kong Jewellery importer and exporter, the Diasqua Group, to expand its offering, by appointing a full time administrative manager, boosting player talent and developing a training facility..

Under the agreement Little Sai Wan Cricket Club will be called, “Diasqua Little Sai Wan Cricket Club.”

The Hon President of the Little Sai Wan Cricket Club, Javed Iqbal, said the agreement is a major development for the Club as it will help it cement its strong position in Hong Kong cricket and help it realize its dream of developing its own purpose built training facility.

“Over the years Little Sai Wan has grown from being a single team, to entering 27 teams last season in the various leagues run by the Hong Kong Cricket Association. Our membership now stands at over 600, half of them youth members.

“We have also expanded beyond simply fielding league teams, to running one of the most extensive Junior Development Programmes in HK, with five centers being operated in different locations in Hong Kong.

We also run coaching activities at schools and in association with social groups such as Caritas Community Centre,” Iqbal said.

“One of the true success of LSWCC, is that its memberships comprises Hong Kong residents of various ethnic backgrounds and we are able to provide them with an opportunity to participate in a sport which they love dearly and socialize together in an harmonious environment.

“The significant sums of money to be provided by the Diasqua Group, particularly over the next three years, will enable us to develop a training facility quickly and to a high standard, ” added Kashif Dar, Chairman of Little Sai Wan Cricket Club

“The facility once established will act as a catalyst in providing a sense of belonging for club members, enabling us to attract, retain and effectively develop all our players, particularly those who are members of Hong Kong international teams” he said.

The new training facility of the Club when completed will be called the, “Diasqua Little Sai Wan Cricket Centre.”

“We realize we can no longer be a club run purely by volunteers and this venture will help us to engage a full time Operations Manager to not only more effectively managed the Clubs membership and team playing programme but to also manage our coaching staff.”

Diasqua has also committed to working with the Club’s executive committee to devise further fund raising opportunities to ensure what is developed is maintained and continues to flourish long into the future,” Dar concluded.

The Managing Director of the Diasqua Group, Tony Mehta, said he was delighted with the arrangement.

“We have been looking for ways to play a meaningful and long term role in Hong Kong cricket and this agreement allows us to do just that.

“The Little Sai Wan Cricket Club, which recently celebrated its 50th Anniversary, is an ideal partner to engage and work with. It is a major force in Hong Kong cricket, having won numerous titles in leagues run by the Hong Kong Cricket Association. It has also supplied many Hong Kong representative players.

“Most importantly it operates a very successful and well organized, junior and youth development programme, for girls and boys, an area which we want to continue to foster and grow.

“With the new facility planned by the Club and its contribution to Hong Kong Cricket will become even more substantial.” Mehta concluded.

The Club logo will be changed to reflect this and the Diasqua Group will have its logo on the left hand side of playing shirts worn by all players in team’s field by the Club in the Hong Kong Cricket Association League. (Diagram showing Logo and Club shirts attached.)

The Clubs website and other collateral material will be changed to reflect the Diasqua Group’s involvement as well.

Current sponsors of individual teams fielded by Little Sai Wan, such as JKN International Ltd. Prism Group, Sarjan Group and Dual Layer IT Solutions Limited will continue with their association and their names will be highlighted boldly on the front body of the relevant team shirt.
