DLSW Spartans win their first league game! Jigar Parikh smashes century for Spartans while Zulu Ghev


At PKVR Park on Oct 24th, DLSWCC Spartans thrashed Pioneers CC by 179 runs.

Spartans batted first after winning the toss and they recovered from an early wicket to post an impressive 9/278 from their 35 overs with Jigar Parikh hitting 103 while Suresh Pandey (33) and Hari Virani (68) also made major contributions. Damian Yee was the pick of the Pioneers’ bowlers, claiming 3/40 from his seven over spell. In reply, the Pioneers got off to a solid start with 31 runs coming from the opening pair. However, from 1/58, the innings fell away and they were eventually dismissed for 99 in 28 overs. Zulu Ghevriya picked up 5/17 for the Spartans.

At PKVR Park: DLSWCC Spartans 9/278 from 35 overs beat Pioneers CC 99 from 28 overs by 179 runs.

Meanwhile at Hong Kong Cricket Club the only Saturday Championship Division 1 match was played where HKCC Witherers thumped DLSWCC Sarjan by 115 runs.

HKCC Witherers elected to bat after winning the toss and they reached 3/217 from their 35 overs thanks to a brilliant opening stand of 171 runs between Charlie Bright and Michael Ashton. Bright hit nine boundaries in his 74 while Ashton struck 15 fours in his tally of 94. The DLSW bowlers toiled with little success and when it came to their turn to bat, they fared little better. Both DLSW openers were dismissed with just 13 runs on the board and thereafter wickets tumbled regularly. They were eventually dismissed for a total of 102 in 21.1 overs. Angus Robson was the best of the Witherers bowlers as he picked up 3/34 in his seven offer spell while Anton Buntin and Ahan Manglik grabbed two wickets each.

At HKCC: HKCC Witherers 7/213 from 35 overs beat DLSWCC Sarjan 102 from 21.1 overs by 115 runs.

The U17 DLSW Tigers won their match against USRC Premier at Mission Road on 24th October. The Tigers won the toss and batted first with DLSW’s Junior Player of the year Haroon Arshad leading the batting and scoring 65 runs whilst opening the innings. DLSW Tigers reached 224/8 in 35 over with Jagjeet Singh also contributing with 43 runs. The USRC side did well batting out 35 overs for 175 runs with 9 wickets down. Karandeep Singh and Mohammed Ali were the pick of DLSW bowlers with 3/26 and 3/35 respectively.

On 25th October, the U13 DLSW Lions also registered a victory against USRC Elite at KGV. Batting first the Lions posted 115 runs and got the USRC team all out for 66 runs

The U11 Teams DLSW Littles beat KCC Hornets, whiles the DLSW Tigers lost to KCC Wasps and DLSW Lions lost to United Mustangs

Next weekend: The Premier League Final between DLSW Prism and Kowloon Cricket Club on 31st March at Mission Road. Also DLSW Women’s team start their 35 over league and the Sunday

League teams JKN and Knight both start their season on 1st November 2015. With the Saturday Teams (Sarjan and Spartans) and whole bunch of Junior League teams also in action; DLSW looks forward to your support this weekend.
